I Know I Should Be Ecstatic
Reason #1 to be Excited about the Reds in 2011
Series Preview: Reds and Brewers
BRM collaborated with Reviewing the Brew and made a little guide for the opening series of the 2011 season.
A Review on the Previews for 2011…and Other Tidbits
Opening Day Memory
Editor’s Note: When BRM introduced the fan guest post idea, it was to bring forward reaction and thoughts from Reds fans other than those from our staff of writers. While we writers have a tendency to become bogged down with stats, battles for roster sports and the occasional blurb made by a public figure, what I wanted to bring out was just that raw insight from the heart. This piece, authored by Scott Shrewsberry, provides that raw insight. The crux of Scott’s post will bear itself out as you read it. I was left with a feeling that I hope [...]

‘Wild Thing’ Touches on Reds with Dan Patrick
One of my daily rituals is listening to the Dan Patrick Show. I suppose one reason is because Patrick is from the Dayton area. The other could be from his days on ESPN when he teamed with Keith Olbermann and formed possibly the best Sports Center tandem ever. Today, one of DP’s guests was Mitch “Wild Thing” Williams of the MLB Network. While in the studio, Williams and DP touched on a couple of topics concerning the Reds.
Injuries Abound in NL Central
Reds fans may be getting a bit jittery considering the rash of injuries that have plagued the starting staff. Well, two injuries (Homer Bailey and Johnny Cueto – shoulder) and an illness (Bronson Arroyo – mono). Add the recent issue with Fred Lewis with an oblique strain and the Opening Day roster will look a bit different than what we had originally thought. The Reds are by far the only team within the NL Central dealing with the injury demons. Take a look at what other teams are dealing with as we approach the greatest day of the year…
Not a Controversy…yet
When we wrote about the prospect of the outfield landscape last month, we (I) said it was basically Drew Stubbs‘ position to lose. Stubbs is hitting a respectable .273 so far this spring, but has anyone taken a look at what Chris Heisey is up to lately? .340 with only 11 strikeouts to Stubbs’ 23! The rest of the statistics are on the Reds’ site here
Bats: 5 Position Players
Hello BRM readers, This is your new staff member/blogger Kevin Geary from Louisville, KY. My job here will be to provide you updates and opinions on the happenings of the Louisville Bats. My goal is to keep you up to date and informed on the Reds’ top prospects; who’s hot, who’s not, and who did what in rehab appearances (we all know there’s going to be some this year). So, without further adieu, my story on Five Exciting Bats Position Players: Dave Sappelt, CF – Sappelt tore through the Reds minor league system last year starting in Single-A Lynchburg for [...]
A Couple Quick Notes
Mike Leake just finished up a very sharp outing in today’s ST game against the White Sox. He went 5.2 innings gave up 6 hits and 1 ER along with 2 BB and 3 K. I was able to catch his whole outing on MLB Network and I must say that he looked very sharp with great movement. John Fay mentioned via Twitter that it’s the best outing by a Reds starter this year and I have to agree. A couple more notes on the game today as the Reds currently lead 7-1 in the 9th… With the big boy [...]
