Who are the 2011 Reds?
In place of my usual weekly recaps of ups and downs I have decided to give a little insight on something that has been rolling around in my head for a few weeks. Just who are the Reds in this 2011 season? We are now closing in on 27 games into the season looking to break the .500 plane of 13-13 regardless of the decision at the end of the bout with the Marlins tonight, and a picture of the type of team the 2011 Reds are has become clearer. Every season a team will forge an identity through its [...]
A ‘Lapse of Judgment’
Late yesterday afternoon, Mike Leake met with the ever inquiring folks that have wanted to get some type of statement from him since the whole Macy’s incident went down. We had heard that Leake was actually exchanging the T-shirts. But something went awry. That something was Leake’s thought process and on Friday, he admitted to such.

Some Hits and Some Misses
So during yesterday’s off day, I decided to check on a couple of things. Nothing to difficult as my brain suffers from overload a lot more than in the past. I did kick back and ponder a bit on how the first month (kind of) of the season has gone. As you would expect, some things I like, and others, not really. Bats Rack: Rehab Updates
There are currently four players on the Bats’ roster on rehab assignments: Jose Arredondo, Homer Bailey, Johnny Cueto, and Fred Lewis. Here’s an update on how they’re doing: Put simply, Arredondo is ready to go. He pitched two perfect innings in game 2 of the Bats’ double header yesterday and got the win. His fastball topped at 94 and his off speed stuff was absolutely filthy. Here’s Arredondo’s line in 7 appearances between Double-A Carolina and Triple-A Louisville:
The Next Stage in the Aroldis Chapman Evolution
If you’re a Reds fan, you really have to be happy about what you have saw from Aroldis Chapman in his previous two outings against the Brewers. While his hard box score stats aren’t anything special (3 IP, 1 H, 3 K, 1 HBP) but it was the way in which Chapman pitched during these two outings that has me absolutely giddy.

Bats Rack: Back Home
The Bats are back home Tuesday, beginning an eight game homestand. They’ll play 4 games against Durham (Tampa Bay) and 4 games against Norfolk (Baltimore). Louisville has a 12-6 record, which puts them second behind Columbus (Cleveland), who are 13-5. As we all know, injury problems for the Reds have caused them to bring up Chris Valaika and Jeremy Hermida from the Bats. In their place have come Eric Eymann and Fred Lewis, both who have been with the Bats before. Lewis played in just 7 games for the Carolina Mudcats hitting .261 with just 1 RBI on the young [...]

The Lumber is Alive…For One Game
As the saying goes, it is only one game, but the Reds offense looked a little better last night. What say you?
