The Cincinnati Reds have an exceedingly talented farm system, and MLB Pipelines' recent prospect rankings have the organization among the top-10 in all of baseball.

While most Reds fans are focused on Sal Stewart and can't wait to see him make his big league debut, there's another young prospect who's making some noise in the minor leagues. Tyson Lewis, Cincinnati's second-round pick in 2024, was promoted to Single-A Daytona recently, and his latest exploits will have Reds fans excited to see what he does next.

On Thursday, Lewis mashed a grand slam in the seventh inning of the Daytona Tortugas game against the Fort Myers Mussels that catapulted his team to a 6-4 victory — their fifth straight win. This is not the first time that Lewis has made a major impact with the bat this season, and it won't be the last.

Because he's not in the upper-levels of the Reds' minor leagues, Lewis is still a bit of an unknown to some fans. But the speed and power combo that Lewis possesses will turn him into a household name in short order.

Lewis was selected with the 51st overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. Cincinnati decided to delay his Minor League debut until this season, and deployed the young shortstop at the Arizona Complex League. During his 46 games in the ACL, Lewis hit .340/.396/.532 with six homers and 35 RBI. He also stole 19 bases, and was only thrown out four times.

The 19-year-old now has 18 games with the Tortugas under his belt, and the bat hasn't slowed down too much. Though Lewis' batting average has dipped to just .242, he still owns a .324 on-base percentage and is slugging .455 with three round-trippers and 12 RBI.

While Reds fans have bemoaned the fact that Cincinnati's farm system is chock full of shortstops, Lewis is arguably the most talented of the bunch and one the organization undoubtedly plans to hang on to. The Reds' front office believes so much in Lewis that they had no issue parting with fellow middle infielder Sammy Stafura at the MLB trade deadline.

The Tortugas' 2025 season comes to a close on September 7, but there's still plenty of games remaining for Lewis to make another loud proclamation with his bat.
