Winter Meetings Could Be Tranquil
With the winter meetings slated to begin next Monday, it doesn’t appear that the Reds are ready to make a splash. Mark Sheldon of MLB.com stated yesterday that Cincinnati is already positioned very well for 2011. With the 2010 NL Central title attached at its collective hip, the Reds are now the hunted instead of the hunter. I don’t think the Reds will stand pat, though. There could be some minor needs addressed by Reds GM Walt Jocketty and his staff. I put the chances of anything major happening at about 5%. I’m not ruling out a deal that could [...]

Seriously? Jeter a Red?
Interesting title, but it grabbed ya, didn’t it. Believable? I’ve read a couple of posts over on Bleacher Report that state the Reds are a possible landing spot for Derek Jeter if he doesn’t re-sign with the New York Yankees. Of course I had a tleast a chuckle over those. We know what the possibilities of this really happening are, don’t we? Negligible. They don’t even register on any meter. Not a single one.

FanSided and Site5, web hosting provider for FanSided, proudly announce a different partnership. So why is FanSided doing this?

Rhodes and Cabrera Not Offered Arbitration
Talk about your non-surprises. The Cincinnati Reds have declined to offer shortstop Orlando Cabrera and pitcher Arthur Rhodes salary arbitration. Both are free agents though the Reds have shown interest in bringing both back into the fold. Bringing Rhodes back is likely to occur while OC’s future grows a little hazier as the days go by.
Going Forward in Arbitration. It’s Gonna Be Pricey!
The list of Reds players that are arbitration eligible isn’t long, but it will be costly. The key word is eligible. There are others that can be offered arbitration. A list of Reds players eligible and their 2010 salary (estimated: salary figures courtesy of Cot’s Baseball Contracts): Bill Bray – not available Jay Bruce – $440,000 Jared Burton – $810,000 Johnny Cueto – $445,000 Edinson Volquez – $445,000 Joey Votto – $550,000
Top 5 Reds Moments of 2010
While creating this list, I noticed that it is more shaded toward pitching than anything else. Why is that? I honestly have no idea other than the fact that I’ve been following the Reds for so long, I know that when the Reds have great pitching performances, they have a good year. 2010 was no exception. Here we go!
