Update (May 13, 2025 at 7:49 PM ET): Tonight's game is scheduled to begin at 8:25 PM ET.

The Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox were supposed to get underway at 6:40 PM ET on Tuesday night, but storms in the area have forced the game into a rain delay. The bad weather rolled in right around rush hour and wreaked havoc for the traffic in downtown Cincinnati.

Unfortunately, there won't be an traffic on the base paths — at least not at the moment. Until the current weather system passes through the tri-state area, we're unlikely to see the players take the field this evening.

But when they do, Reds fans are hoping to see more action on the base paths than they have over the past week. Cincinnati's offensive performances have beeb putrid of late. It's gotten so bad that Reds manager Terry Francona overhauled his lineup ahead of Tuesday's game and bumped second baseman Matt McLain all the way down to No. 8 on the lineup card. The Reds skipper is hoping to light a fire under a player who should be the second-best on the team.

If and when the tarp comes off the field, the Reds are expected to send left-hander Andrew Abbott to the mound. The southpaw was bumped back two days after Francona and Co. fed Chase Petty to the lions in Houston on Sunday. The Astros lineup feasted on the rookie, but in doing so, it gave Abbott some much needed rest.

Sadly, the Reds and White Sox could be dodging showers and storms over the next couple of days. In addition to the downpour on Tuesday, the rain is expected to stick around throughout at least Wednesday, and possibly into Thursday. There's a very real possibility that we could see a doubleheader on tap in the next few days.

Reds fans, and perhaps even the front office, will get an up-close and personal look at White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. this week. If the former All-Star lands a few haymakers on the Reds' pitching staff during the series, it'll only increase the calls from the Reds fanbase to trade for Robert.
