The Cincinnati Reds have a new television deal for 2025 — again. In an odd turn of events, the Reds have agreed to a new linear and digital rights deal with FanDuel Sports Network (formerly Bally Sports). This is a wild turn of events after the Reds had previously agreed to allow Major League Baseball to produce all the team's games in 2025.
The Bally Sports-MLB fiasco had been tied up in the court system for some time. The Reds made the announcement back in mid-November that they were no longer going to run by a regional sports network, and the groundwork was laid for Reds TV to begin operation in 2025.

But this latest development will halt those operations — for now. According to a press release, FanDuel Sports Network will broadcast all in-market Reds games for the upcoming season. The agreement also allows for a direct-to-consumer subscription. Pricing and other details have not yet been revealed, though most FanDuel Sports Network's charge $19.99 per month. The Columbus Blue Jackets and Cleveland Cavaliers are currently produced by that very entity.
The direct-to-consumer option is huge for in-market Reds fans who previously had to have a cable or satellite provider in order to watch their favorite team. This has long been a complaint for several Reds fans who prefer to use Roku, Google Chromecast, or another device instead of subscribing to cable or satellite.
One has to wonder — though fans may never know — what are the financial implications of this new TV deal? Will the Reds new TV deal with FanDuel Sports Network afford the club more money to spend on free agents? Only time will tell.
It appears, for the moment, as though there's little difference in the prevoius deal with MLB versus the deal with FanDuel Sports Network in terms of production. It's quite likely that Jon Sadak, Barry Larkin, Jim Day, Chris Welsh, and Jeff Brantley will all be along for the ride next season.
