The Cincinnati Reds! From the top rope! In what's been an active season for the NL Central hopefuls, general manager Nick Krall has pulled off a trade Monday to further propel Cincinnati's contending status in the National League.

Per ESPN's Jeff Passan, Gavin Lux is being traded to the Reds as the Los Angeles Dodgers undergo a roster crunch after the signing of Hyeseong Kim. Previous reports suggested the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners were the top suitors for Lux.

It's unclear what the return is at this juncture, but it appears as if the Reds came out of nowhere with an offer the Dodgers preferred after talks materialized rather quickly.

Lux will ostensibly be the team's starting second baseman on Opening Day, filling the void left by Jonathan India, who was traded to the Kansas City Royals for Brady Singer a few weeks back.

Wait! Here's an update! Apparently the trade details are already out, and the Reds are sending outfielder Mike Sirota to LA ... but that's not all.

According to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, there might be a Reds-Yankees Lux trade in the works. Does this have the making of a three-team trade, or did the Reds just help the Yankees circumvent their recent World Series foes?

They've already done business with the Yankees this offseason, too, trading for backup catcher (and former All-Star) Jose Trevino right before Christmas. And if we're to believe more moves are on the way, it's been quite an active day for Krall and the Reds, who also landed a former Rangers top pitching prospect in another trade.

Oops, wait, another update! Bowden has been informed Lux is staying with the Reds. A trade to the Yankees will not be happening.

Alright then! Thanks for the quick curveball.

Reds fans are still waiting for the bigger free agent splash, but Krall and the front office have at least done enough on the trade front to keep the fanbase somewhat engaged. Oh yeah, and Terry Francona's here. Can't forget about that. So, yeah, sign a star free agent, too.
