If there's one area the Cincinnati Reds need to address this offseason, it's the outfield. The Reds' outfield ranked 24th in slugging percentage, 25th in wRC+, 26th in fWAR, and 28th in batting average. That's just not going to cut it.

How the Reds upgrade the outfield heading into next season will definitely be a story worth watching this offseason. Though a trade could be the best forward, don't discount the idea of free agency. Let's look at some of the best outfield bats Cincinnati could target this winter.
*Editors Note: No impending Reds free agents are among those listed.

Ranking the available free agent outfielders for the Reds after 2024 season

6. Adam Duvall, OF (Atlanta Braves)

Adam Duvall's name comes up this time every year. The former Reds' All-Star will be a free agent again this offseason after a down-year in Atlanta. Normally a reliable defender, Duvall was worth just 1 out above avarage (OAA) and 3 defensive runs saved (DRS) in 2024. The 36-year-old would offer Cincinnati a right-handed hitting outfield to platoon alongside Jake Fraley in right field.

5. Tyler O'Neill, OF (Boston Red Sox)

There are a lot of strikeouts in Tyler O'Neill's bat, so with the Reds' new hitting approach, that may work against the former St. Louis Cardinals' outfielder. But O'Neill also provides a lot of pop from the right side. O'Neill is an average defender in left, and adding him to the roster would likely push Spencer Steer back to the infield.

4. Randal Grichuk, OF (Arizona Diamondbacks)

Randal Grichuk's offensive profile fits what Cincinnati is looking for. The veteran only struck out 16.5% of the time in 2024 and smacked 12 homers in 254 at-bats last season. No one is going to confuse Grichuk for a Gold Glover in the outfield, but if the Reds plan to keep the left-handed hitting duo of Jake Fraley and Will Benson, Grichuk would be a terrific platoon option in the outfield.

3. Jurickson Profar, OF (San Diego Padres)

No one got more bang for their buck than the San Diego Padres in 2024. Signing Jurickson Profar to a one-year, $1 million deal last offseason was a steal. But after hitting .280/.380/.459 this past season, Profar will be looking for a huge payday in what's likely to be his final major league contract. At 31 years old, would the Reds be willing to meet his price?

2. Teoscar Hernandez, OF (Los Angeles Dodgers)

Speaking of big pay days, Teoscar Hernandez will be looking for a long-term contract. The 32-year-old smashed 33 bombs in 2024. The Seattle Mariners, foolishly, didn't extend a qualifying offer to Hernandez last offseason, but it's a virtual guarantee that a QO will be coming his way this winter. the draft compensation might scare the Reds away from signing Hernandez to a free agent deal.

1. Anthony Santander, OF (Baltimore Orioles)

If the Reds wanted to make a free agent splash this offseason, Anthony Santander should be their top target. While every other big-market spender is focused on Juan Soto, the Reds should attempt to blow Santander away with a deal he can't refuse. If Cincinnati is in on the Baltimore Orioles right fielder early, they might have a chance to sign him.
