The Cincinnati Reds debuted their new City Connect uniforms this season and they are a thing of beauty.
Reds fans wasted little time falling in love with the new threads, and the all-black unis have brought a mixture of wins and losses to the city of Cincinnati every Friday night.
After this past Friday's win versus the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Cincinnati Reds have a .500 record while donning their new uniforms.
What's the Reds win-loss record wearing the City Connect uniforms?
The City Connect jerseys didn't' bring the Cincinnati Reds much good fortune during the team's first two games, with losses to both the New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers. But the Reds had arguably their best game of the season on June 23rd against the Atlanta Braves while repping their new uniforms.
Most notably, this game saw Elly De La Cruz hit for the cycle. The rookie finished that game with four RBIs, three runs scored, and one stolen base in the process. Joey Votto also hit two dingers and picked up four RBIs as the Reds emerged victorious with a hard-fought 11-10 win over the best team in the National League.
A two-run, walk-off bomb courtesy of Spencer Steer in extra innings against the San Diego Padres helped the Cincinnati Reds pull their record to 2-2 while wearing the City Connect uniforms.
Unfortunately, the Reds' next outing against Milwaukee on July 14th saw Cincinnati fall by a score of 1-0. But last night's grand slam by rookie shortstop Matt McLain helped push the Reds to victory, evening Cincy's record at 3-3 while repping their City Connect uniforms.
The Cincinnati Reds have six more Friday games with a doubleheader in September against the Chicago Cubs. Will Cincinnati finish the 2023 season with a winning-record while wearing their City Connect uniforms? Let's hope so.
