Jonathan India was rumored to on the New York Yankees' radar for the past several weeks. While the Cincinnati Reds had never committed to being sellers at the MLB trade deadline, president of baseball operations Nick Krall is always going to listen.

But on Saturday afternoon, the Yankees upgraded their roster with the addition of Jazz Chisholm Jr. after dealing three prospects to the Miami Marlins in return. While Chisholm has played center field for the past two seasons, the Yankees see the flashy 26-year-old as an infielder. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Yankees don't have a defined position for Chisholm yet, but their greater need is at the keystone.

New York has been terribly disappointed with the play of second baseman Gleyber Torres this season, which was the whole reason the Yanks had been entertaining the idea of dealing for India. Torres is hitting .237/.312/.369 with a 92 OPS+.

Just last night, it was reported that a Yankees scout was in attendance at Tropicana Field, presumably to observe players like India, Yandy Díaz, Isaac Paredes, and a number of relievers. But with Chisholm now headed to the Bronx, that same scout can probably take his focus off India.

But New York hasn't been the only team interested in trading for India this summer. The Seattle Mariners, who've been linked to the former NL Rookie of the Year since the offseason, are in desperate need of an extra bat as well — so Reds fans shouldn't get too overconfident with three days to go until the deadline expires.

The best thing Cincinnati can do to guarantee that India remains with the Reds organization is win. Krall and Co. aren't trying to trade India, but won't pass up an offer than blow them away. However, the longer the Reds stay in the playoff hunt, the less likely it is that India is shipped elsewhere.
