Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Jeff Brantley is never one to mince words, and during Wednesday's radio broadcast 'The Cowboy' left no doubt about his feelings toward the spring training facility in Glendale, Arizona.

The Chicago White Sox were hosting the Reds for their fourth game of the Cactus League season. The White Sox share a spring training facility with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and most baseball fans know it as Camelback Ranch. But Brantley doesn't view the complex with the same type of reverence as others throughout the sport. In fact, he referred to it as a ditch.

In the bottom of the second inning, Reds radio voice Tommy Thrall welcomed fans back to the broadcast by saying, "Glendale. Not far at all from the Reds' complex over in Goodyear. It's about a 15 minute drive. I think it's about eight miles."

"Yeah, just look for the big ditch," Brantley said. "That's kind of where we're at. We're just playing in a big ditch. Dusty, nasty. I hate this place. Can't believe the Dodgers are here. What are they thinking? Maybe that's why they're saving so much money, they're playing in this joint."

Later in the broadcast, the subject came up again, and Brantley couldn't help but to poke fun of Dodgers' rustic complex "This is one of those ballparks that if you picked it up as a blind date you would leave before you walked into the restaurant," Brantley said. "No conversation. No nothing."

Brantley's distaste for the Dodgers' facilities isn't limited to just Camelback Ranch. During the Reds' road trip to Chavez Ravine last year, 'The Cowboy' had some rather pointed words for Dodger Stadium.

During a Reds television broadcast in late-August, play-by-play announcer John Sadak said, "The other thing that I hear all the time, Cowboy, from Reds pitchers and from other pitchers, they all speak about the mound at Dodger Stadium."

Brantley playfully responded by saying, "That's the only good thing about this joint."

Brantley's contempt for the Dodgers runs deep. He was a pitcher in the San Francisco Giants organization for six seasons, and those two NL West teams have a deep-seated rivalry with one another. As such, it's never surprising when Brantley pokes fun at the Dodgers.
