Former Cincinnati Reds slugger Eugenio Suárez is now part of Major League Baseball history. On Saturday night, the Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman joined another former Reds fan-favorite, Scooter Gennett, as the 19th player to ever hit four home runs in a single game.

Geno mashed a solo shot in the bottom of the second inning off Atlanta Braves starter Grant Holmes to give the D-backs a 2-1 edge. The former Reds infielder then hit a second bomb off Holmes in the fourth inning, putting Arizona up 5-2. But Suárez wasn't done. His mammoth 443-foot shot to dead-center in the bottom of the sixth inning against Holmes put the D-backs up 6-2 over the Braves.

But Atlanta made a feverish comeback against Arizona and took a 7-6 lead into the ninth inning. Another former Red, Raisel Iglesias was on the bump for the Braves, and his former teammate met him with line drive homer to left field to tie the game at seven runs apiece.

With that swing, Suárez joined Gennett and 17 others who've crushed four homers in a single game. Geno also took the outright home run lead from his teammate Corbin Carroll with his 10th of the year. Unfortunately for Arizona, they lost the game in extra innings 8-7.

Suárez is the first player since 2017, the year Gennett hit four home runs in a single game, to match the feat. Gennett, however was not the last player to record a quartet of round-trippers in a game. Both Gennett and J.D. Martinez pulverized four homers in a game during the 2017 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers' DH accomplishing the feat a few months after Gennett.

Geno's name is now etched in MLB history alongside Gennett, and two other former Reds—Josh Hamilton (2012) and Mike Cameron (2002). Suárez has had quite the start to the 2025 season. In 27 games, Suárez has a .564 slugging percentage, 10 home runs, and 20 RBI; ranking in the top-20 of MLB in all three categories.

Suárez was a member of the Reds from 2015-2022 and is in the final year of the contract extension he signed with Cincinnati prior to the 2018 season. The D-backs and Reds have identical 14-13 records heading into play on Sunday.
