The Cincinnati Reds are nearly ready to reveal their 2025 Opening Day roster. Most of the names are already set in stone, but Terry Francona and Co. still have to make a couple finishing touches before the season begins with Thursday's visit from the San Francisco Giants.

But the team that leaves Goodyear with a plane ticket for the Queen City will not be the same one that ends the season in September — you can book it. Whether it's injuries, lack of production, or even trades, the 26 players who leave Arizona will not be the same ones who wrap up the 2025 campaign six months from now.

There are several deserving players who could, and should, find their way onto the Reds roster at some point this season. Which four Reds players will eventually steal a roster spot in 2025?

Zach Maxwell, Reds right-handed pitcher

Maxwell could be on the Reds Opening Day roster, but Nick Krall did a nice job of adding arms like Scott Barlow and Taylor Rogers this offseason, meaning that the flamethrower's MLB debut will have to wait. Maxwell ended last season at Triple-A, and is ticketed to begin the 2025 season back in the Derby City. But don't expect Maxwell to stay put. The right-hander needs to refine his command just a touch, and soon enough, he'll be in the Reds bullpen.

Wade Miley, Reds left-handed pitcher

The fight for the final spot in the Reds starting rotation may have been all for naught. Miley has been working his way back from Tommy John surgery and could return as soon as April. Look for the crafty lefty to receive a couple rehab starts at Triple-A Louisville in the coming weeks, and then it's only a matter of time before Miley is back on the bump. In other words, Carson Spiers' time on the active roster could be short-lived.

Chase Petty, Reds right-handed pitcher

There's a lot of focus on the Reds top pitching prospects Rhett Lowder and Chase Burns, and deservedly so. But Petty is no slouch and could be counted upon later this season. The former first-round pick put up solid numbers this spring, and could be fast-tracked to the big leagues by midseason. Petty made two starts in Louisville last season and posted an impressive 1.80 ERA.

Tejay Antone, Reds right-handed pitcher

Antone was part of the Reds Opening Day roster last season, but another injury befell the right-hander, and his 2024 campaign lasted only four games. Antone was removed from the 40-man roster, but has been working his way back this spring with an eye on a return this season. If he's healthy, there's little doubt that Antone possesses the type of repertoire that could bolster the Reds bullpen as the dog days of summer creep in later this year.
