Fans throughout Reds Country are well aware that their favorite team has no chance to sign a big-name free agent like Cody Bellinger. But if he rejoins the New York Yankees, the Cincinnati Reds could benefit from the aftermath.

According to most baseball insiders, while there's a lot of posturing going on at the moment, the Yankees are expected to re-sign Bellinger at some point this offseason. The Bronx Bombers haven't been linked Kyle Tucker, nor do they seem like a logical fit for Bo Bichette, and can't afford to strike out on all three.

The hangup seem to be the number of years attached to any contract offer. New York is rumored to be capping their discussions at five years while Bellinger's camp is looking for something closer to a seven-year commitment. The odds are good that the two sides eventually work out an agreement, and that's where the Reds come in.

Impending Yankees contract with Cody Bellinger could help Reds land outfielder Jasson Dominguez

According to Yankees insider Bryan Hoch, a Bellinger reunion with the Yankees would likely dislodge Jasson Dominguez from left field. As such, it can be assumed that the Yankees will then attempt to shop their outfielder in an effort to bolster the team's starting rotation or the bullpen. Dominguez would bring the type of pop Reds fans have been craving all offseason.

Dominguez saw a drop in power last season, hitting just .257/.331/.388, but still managed to post a 103 wRC+. His Minor League track record offers proof that Dominguez can punish baseballs. He owns a career .274/.374/.444 slash line with 47 home runs and a 127 wRC+.

If they agree to terms with Bellinger, however, the Yankees aren't just going to give Dominguez away for free. He's still still pre-arbitration eligible and won't reach free agency until after the 2030 season. The Yankees recently pulled off a deal with the Miami Marlins that saw them ship out four prospects, so perhaps some type of package that included a mid-tier starter like Brady Singer or Rhett Lowder along with a lower-level prospect would be enough to complete a trade.

So while Reds fans have little rooting interest in the Yankees-Bellinger negotiations, the fallout could help solve one of the team's biggest roster holes at the moment.
