For those of you looking for the broadcast duo of John Sadak and Barry Larkin to welcome you into Great American Ball Park on Friday night, get ready to make an adjustment. Unlike most summer evenings, tonight's Cincinnati Reds' game will not be televised on FanDuel Sports Network.
Instead, Reds fans will need to flip over to AppleTV+ for Friday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This is the third year that AppleTV+ is the home for Friday Night Baseball, and with ESPN abandoning MLB after this season, the network may soon add more baseball coverage to their lineup.
Reds vs. Diamondbacks (June 6) is on AppleTV+
The Reds and D-backs will begin a three-game set at GABP on Friday night with Nick Lodolo slated to take the mound for Cincinnati. The left-hander has been one of manager Terry Francona's most reliable starters in 2025 with a 4-4 record and 3.10 ERA. Lodolo has 60 punch outs on the season with a 1.11 WHIP.
Lodolo will be opposed by another left-hander. Eduardo Rodriguez will be on the bump for the D-backs on Friday night. Arizona's top free agent acquistion a year ago, Rodriguez has fallen on hard times. The lefty has a 1-3 record with an unsightly 7.05 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. Unfortuantely for the Reds, they've struggled with lefties this season, so it'll be interesting to see how Francona deploys his lineup against the D-backs on Friday night.
Cincinnati will likely be without their star shortstop Elly De La Cruz. Though the Reds have not yet made a formal announcement, De La Cruz is expected to be placed on the bereavement list ahead of today's after his sister sadly passed away over the weekend. De La Cruz reportedly flew home following the team's game on Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers, and is likely to miss Friday's contest.
The Reds will need to make a corresponding move if De La Cruz is placed on the bereavement list, and rehabbing slugger Christian Encarnacion-Strand could get the call. The former Minnesota Twins farmhand has been on a minor-league rehab assignment, but is nearing a return to the big-league roster.
For all of tonight's action, tune in to AppleTV+ at 7:10 pm PM EDT. The streaming giant offers a seven-day free trial for new subscribers, which could be the perfect way to enjoy tonight's game from GABP. Don't forget, if you prefer to listen to voices of Tommy Thrall and Jeff Brantley, AppleTV+ features syncing technology that allows you to hear the Reds' radio broadcast instead of the network telecast.
