The Cincinnati Reds first-round pick in the 2025 MLB Draft has scouts and pundits alike comparing him to three-time All-Star shortstop Trea Turner, and for good reason.
The 17-year-old Alabama native made headlines after a fantastic 2025 high school season in which displayed his plus-plus speed and superb defensive ability. His .484 batting average, eight home runs, and 33 stolen bases earned him the coveted 2025 Mr. Baseball Award in the state of Alabama.
Hall bet on himself and reclassified as a senior last November to either begin college or be drafted early. Any comparison to a MLB-star like Turner is exciting, and both player do indeed share similar traits.

Not only do they both play the same position and have a similar stature, but Hall is just as fast as Turner, claiming to have run the 60-yard dash in six second flat. Turner displayed a 6.3 second 60-yard-dash during his senior year of high school, and is widely considered one of the fastest players in baseball.
The Reds front office will likely limit Hall's playing time in the late stages of 2025, if he gets any at all. His speed and defensive prowess are key tools to his success, but MLB scouts project Hall's power to increase over time.
"Remember when Trea (Turner) got drafted? He didn't have the power this kid (Hall) has right now at this age, it came over time," MLB Network's Harold Reynolds said immediately following the Reds selection. Turner has never been a slugger, but has produced four straight 20-plus home run seasons since 2021.
After dominating class 7A pitching this spring, the Reds' young shortstop will set his sights on pro ball this coming fall. It typically takes three to five years for a high school draft pick to be considered MLB-ready, so everyone will have to wait and see if Cincinnati made the right selection. The excitement, however, is as expected.
Fans have no choice but to wonder if he will become Elly De La Cruz's replacement in the years to come. While certainly a long shot, the Reds will surely make an attempt to sign the two-time All-Star to a long-term deal this coming offseason. Regardless of De La Cruz's long-term standing with the organization, the Reds should be excited for Hall's ceiling, and what could be a dynamite player heading into future.
