Much like the regular season, the Major League Baseball offseason can be a grind. Fans waiting for baseball to return have to endure the bitter cold of the winter with their eyes fixed on a spring that oftentimes brings renewed hope for the coming season.

Cincinnati Reds fans are no different, and after a year in which the team returned to the playoffs for the first time in a full season since 2013, the fanbase is certainly excited to see their favorite players head out to Goodyear, Arizona in preparation for what many hope is a return to the postseason in 2026.

Reds fans already knew that their team's Cactus League opener against the Cleveland Guardians was scheduled for February 21, but other key spring training dates had been kept under wraps until now.

Reds spring training schedule: Pitchers and catchers report, position players report, full squad workout

The first date baseball fans always circle on their calendar is when pitchers and catchers report to spring training. For the Reds, that date is Monday, February 9. Fans will see Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo, Andrew Abbott, Tyler Stephenson, and others descend upon Goodyear during the second week of the month with the first workout to follow two days later.

This year is unique with the World Baseball Classic set to commence in early-March. As such, not only will Reds pitchers and catchers report to Goodyear on February 9, but so will any players who are scheduled to participate in the WBC. At the moment, the only Reds player who's known to be part of a WBC roster is shortstop Elly De La Cruz. He'll be suiting up for the Dominican Republic.

Position players will report to Arizona a few days after pitchers and catchers. Non-pitchers must be in Goodyear by February 14, meaning De La Cruz, Matt McLain, Spencer Steer, and many more will be on the field by the middle of next month with the first full squad workout scheduled for February 16.

Reds spring training roster: Which non-roster players will be part of camp?

Every year, teams sign several players to Minor League contracts and many of those deals include a non-roster invite to spring camp. These are typically players who struggled the previous year or spent most of it in the minor leagues and are looking for a chance to prove themselves.

  • Tejay Antone, RHP
  • Michael Chavis, IF
  • Will Banfield, C
  • Joel Valdez, LHP
  • Carson Spiers, RHP
  • Garrett Hampson, IF/OF
  • Lyon Richardson, RHP
  • Michael Toglia, IF
  • Hagen Danner, RHP

The Reds have several players who've already signed such a contract, and there are likely many more to come. A team's non-roster list can often reach upwards of 20 players or more, especially once an organization's top prospects join the fray.

The oft-injured Tejay Antone will be a non-roster invitee this spring, as will the recently signed trio of Michael Chavis, Garrett Hampson, and Michael Toglia. Lyon Richardson, who was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville earlier this winter, also received a non-roster invite.

Reds fans are still hoping to see their favorite team make a splash free agent signing or a blockbuster trade before the players arrive in Arizona. But despite a relatively quiet offseason, Reds Country will be excited to hear the pop of the mitt and the crack of the bat once spring training gets underway.
