It's been all quiet on western front in terms of offseason activity for the Cincinnati Reds thus far. But with some important dates just around the corner, Reds fans will be eager to see the hot stove ignited.

Over the next week Reds fans can expect to see some roster additions as Nick Krall and Co. look to protect a handful of prospects from December's Rule 5 Draft. The non-tender deadline is quickly approaching as well, and a couple players may not have a secure spot on the 40-man roster.

Reds News: Daniel Duarte agrees to MiLB deal with Twins

Former Cincinnati reliever Daniel Duarte will return to the Minnesota Twins next season. The former Reds hurler spent last season with the Twins' organization, but appeared in just two games after suffering an elbow injury.

Duarte is expected to be sidelined for most of the 2025 season following UCL revision surgery. The right-hander spent two seasons in Cincinnati and made 34 appearances out of the Reds bullpen between 2022 and 2023.

Reds News: Christian Encarnacion-Strand returns to Arizona Fall League

Christian Encarnacion-Strand had a season to forget in 2024. Not only did the former Twins' farmhand struggle mightily when he was on the field, but fractured wrist derailed the slugger's entire season.

Encarnacion-Strand has been rehabbing at the Arizona Fall League, but was sidelined recently with a minor setback. Thankfully Encarnacion-Strand was back in the Glendale Desert Dogs lineup on Wednesday. The young infielder went 1-for-4 with a single and a strikeout. Encarnacion-Strand is hitting .385 in the AFL this season with a .931 OPS.

Reds News: Tyler Callihan posts back-to-back games with a HR

Reds prospect Tyler Callihan has used the Arizona Fall League as a springboard to a likely spot on the 40-man roster. The infielder mashed his first home run of the AFL season on Tuesday, and followed that up with another round-tripper on Wednesday.

Callihan is eligible to be selected in this year's Rule 5 Draft, but it's a good bet that the Reds will look to protect the former third round pick. An infielder by trade, Callihan has been getting reps in the outfield as well, which should bode well for the 24-year-old. Callihan is hitting .250/.325/.361 in the AFL this year.
