Reds News: Former White Sox outfielder signs, Graham Ashcraft rehab, Nick Krall

MLB insider Mike Rodriguez reported on Thursday that Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Carlos Jorge is on his way to the big leagues. Though the team has yet to make an official announcement, Jorge was not in the Louisville Bats lineup on Thursday night, suggesting that Rodriguez's assertion is accurate.

Jorge is a converted infielder and ranks just outside the Reds' top-15 prospects according to MLB Pipeline. He's appeared in 29 games for the Bats this season, and is hitting .263/.323/.377 with eight extra-base hits and 10 stolen bases. Combined with his time at Double-A Chattanooga, the 22-year-old has an .803 OPS and can play all three outfield spots.

A corresponding move has yet to be made, but promoting Jorge to the big league roster will leave a hole in the Bats' outfield. On Thursday, the Reds backfilled that hole with former Chicago White Sox outfielder Dominic Fletcher.

Fletcher was a second-round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2019 and made his Major League debut in 2023. He has 112 games at the big-league level under his belt and with six home runs, 48 RBI, and a .604 OPS.

Most recently, Fletcher was part of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. The 29-year-old played 63 games with the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate, hitting .301/.386/.485 with eight homers and 32 RBI. Fletcher will join Will Benson, Noelvi Marte, and Jay Allen II in the Bats' outfield.

Reds News: Graham Ashcraft's rehab assignment coming to an end

Graham Ashcraft has been on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville since August 25. After logging three outings last week, the right-hander made back-to-back appearances this week.

Ashcraft came on in relief during Wednesday's game and was the opener for Bats on Thursday. Both appearances resulted in shutdown innings for the Reds reliever, and it's quite likely that he's activated sometime during the upcoming series against the Brewers.

Reds News: Nick Krall might be on the hot seat

FanSided's MLB insider Robert Murray listed Reds president of baseball operations Nick Krall among the top executives who are on the hot seat heading into the final month of the 2026 season. Krall was joined on the list by New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman and New York Mets' top decision-maker David Stearns.

Murray cited the Reds' confusing trade deadline as one of the biggest reason Krall's seat may be heating up. Cincinnati infamously clung to the majority of their impending free agents at the August 3 deadline despite the team's declining playoff odds.
