The Cincinnati Reds released their new edition of the team's City Connect uniforms and the reactions are sure to be mixed. The theme of the team's City Connects 2.0 is "Rooted in Red." That might be an understatement. The Reds new City Connect uniforms aren't just rooted in red, they're covered in red from head to toe.

The Reds are keeping the newly-stylized wishbone 'C' (which debuted in 2023) as part of the updated uniform. It's prominently featured on the cap, which is red with pinstripes. Gone is the word "Cincy" across the chest, and it's been replaced with the update "C" on the upper left part of the jersey. The player's numbers are on the right side of the jersey.
After leaks of the jersey were made public, many fans assumed the new uniforms might be a vest. Players could then wear a black undershirt, giving fans a nostalgic feel of the 1990s. Fans who were hoping for that, however, will be severely disappointed. Though there are pinstripes of the jersey and the pants, they're nonexistent on the sleeves, which is a little odd.
Reds debut new City Connect uniforms for the 2026 season
The Reds debuted their original City Connect uniforms in 2023. The all-black cap-jersey-pant combo (with red piping on the sleeves) was well received by the majority of Reds fans. It's so popular that the Reds will continue to wear the all-black uniforms during home games on Fridays this season.
Fans will remember that the initial City Connect uniforms featured the abbreviated name of the Queen City, "Cincy", across the chest and Cincinnati's motto, Juncta Juvant, which means "Strength in unity."
The Reds' City Connects 2.0 will be worn on Saturdays throughout the 2026 season. Cincinnati will don their new threads during the team's upcoming homestand against the Los Angeles Angels.
The Reds were among several teams who made the change this season. The Baltimore Orioles, Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers, Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, and Milwaukee Brewers are all switching things up in 2026.
