Reds' Arizona Fall League roster could reveal their next wave of big leaguers

The Arizona Fall League roster have been released, and the Cincinnati Reds are sending eight prospects out to the desert this year. These eight players will be part of the Peoria Javelinas roster along with other young talent from the St. Louis Cardinals, Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles, and San Diego Padres.

The most notable name headed out west is the Reds' hard-hitting first base prospect Carter Graham. The 24-year-old split the 2026 season between High-A Dayton and Double-A Chattanooga and has walloped 29 home runs while racking up 93 RBI.

Joining Graham are fellow infielder/ outfielder Carlos Sanchez and former first-round pick Jay Allen II. Like Graham, Sanchez has split time between High-A and Double-A this season, and owns a combined .270/.376/.440 slash line with a 113 wRC+. Allen is currently on the Louisville Bats roster, but spent most of the year in southeast Tennessee where he hit .280/.374/.483 for the Lookouts.

All three players are Rule 5 eligible this year, so the Reds are no doubt sending this trio to the AFL to gain a better idea of whether or not to add them to the 40-man roster this offseason. Graham is almost assured of being added to the roster this winter, but Sanchez and Allen might have some work do this fall.

In addition to the three position players, the Reds are also sending five pitchers out to Arizona later this month. The right-handed throwing quintet of Luke Holman, Cody Adcock, Victor Diaz, Trent Hodgdon, and Jose Montero will all be part of the Javelinas roster.

Graham, Sanchez, and Holman are the three names to watch this fall. Holman isn't Rule 5 eligible until December 2027, so this isn't necessarily a proving ground for the former 71th-overall pick. Injuries have limited Holman to just four starts this year, so the trip out to Arizona should help to extend his work and allow him to stretch out his innings heading into next season.

Other than Allen, every prospect joining the Javelinas this fall are at Double-A or lower. Adcock's performance could help him land a 40-man spot as well this winter, as the right-hander is looking to build off a season that him post a 31.3% strikeout rate. Diaz and Hodgdon are two lower-level hurler who have massive swing-and-miss stuff, but very little command.

All eight players will receive an opportunity to improve their standing within the organization. The Reds rely on a draft-and-develop strategy, meaning at least one, if not more, of these prospects could find their way to the big leagues as early as next season.
