At 39-35 the Cincinnati Reds have a half game lead in the NL Central. After another win last night, 8-6 over the Colorado Rockies, the team extended its win-streak to 10 games, and today they will go for the sweep with rookie Andrew Abbott on the mound.
Abbott comes into this start at 3-0 and has yet to surrender a run in his three major league starts. The Rockies will counter with Connor Seabold who has given up quite a few runs over the years. In his nine starts and seven appearances out of the bullpen this year he has a 5.88 ERA with a record of 1-3.
The red-hot Reds are big favorites against the Rockies who have lost seven in a row. Let’s get into the odds for this afternoon matchup in Cincy.

Rockies vs. Reds prediction and pick
Not only are the Reds on fire right now, so is Andrew Abbott. He is off to a great start to his major league career with no runs allowed in 17.2 innings of work, but his perfect ERA has come from very imperfect outings. He has just 12 strikeouts to nine walks and has given up 10 hits. That’s 19 base runners in 17.2 innings and yet nobody found their way in to score. His greatness is obviously unsustainable over the long term, but I don’t think today is the day that he falls off.
The Rockies are the second worst team at hitting left-handed pitchers like Abbott. They are 29th in OPS at .651 and their 14 home runs are also 29th. They also have the third most strikeouts against left-handers. Some team is eventually going to do damage against the Reds rookie, but it won’t be Colorado and it won’t be today.
The Reds have been incredible in June and I don’t see any reason to fade a team that is on the longest active win-streak in the sport with a great matchup on the mound. I’ll back the Reds on the moneyline against Seabold and the Rockies.
