The American League Championship Series began with a bang on Sunday night after the Texas Rangers took Game 1 on the road in Houston.

Former Cincinnati Reds closer Aroldis Chapman pitched a scoreless inning in relief and Dusty Baker's squad is down 1-0 in the ALCS. Game 1 begins this afternoon with the Astros looking to bounce back.

As for the National League Championship Series, it begins tonight in the City of Brotherly Love. The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to return to the World Series, but will have to go through the upstart Arizona Diamondbacks. Are there any former Reds playing in the NLCS?

Which former Reds players are on the Phillies' NLCS roster?

The Philadelphia Phillies roster, believe it or not, is actually littered with former Cincinnati Reds players. The most popular, of course, is former All-Star Nick Castellanos.

Castellanos was the hero of Game 4 of the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves. The slugger is riding some kind of hot streak, and the Philadelphia faithful are hoping it continues into the NLCS against the D-backs.

But Castellanos isn't alone. Former Cincinnati reliever Jeff Hoffman has pitched very well for the Phillies this season and his stellar performance has spilled over into the playoffs. Hoffman was 5-2 this season with 0.92 WHIP and 2.41 ERA as one of the most trusted members of the Phillies bullpen.

Joining Hoffman in the bullpen will likely be former Reds reliever Michael Lorenzen. The right-hander left Cincinnati after the 2021 season as a free agent and signed with his hometown Los Angeles Angels as a starter. This past season, Lorenzen was member of the Detroit Tigers before being traded at the deadline.

Lorenzen's role in Philly has been a bit different as he's been a starter and worked out of the Philadelphia bullpen. With the NLCS potentially going seven games, the possibility of Lorenzen starting a game during the series is definitely on the table.

Which former Reds players are on the Diamondbacks' NLCS roster?

If there's one team that nobody expected to see in the National League Championshio Series, it was the Arizona Diamonbacks. Torey Lovullo's ball club has shocked the baseball world this season.

Reds fans should be excited to see the D-backs in the NLCS, as Arizona plays a very similar style of baseball to Cincinnati. The Diamondbacks have relied on young talent like Corbin Carroll and Gabriel Moreno, and their speed on the base paths is one of the team's biggest strengths.

When it comes to former Cincinnati Reds players, only Tommy Pham is part of the Arizona Diamondbacks NLCS roster. Pham was acquired from the New York Mets at the trade deadline and has added some pop in the middle of the D-backs lineup.

The NLCS begins tonight in Philadelphia as the Phillies look to defend their National League pennant. The D-backs, on the other hand, are looking to return to the World Series for the first time since 2001.
