The 2023 MLB Draft is quickly approaching. As it has been the past few seasons, the annual event will be held during the All-Star break. This year's draft is will be held June 9-11 in Seattle, Washington.

Despite having the fourth-worst record in Major League Baseball last season, the Cincinnati Reds will not be picking at No. 4 in the upcoming draft. MLB implemented a draft lottery last season, and the results did not favor the ole Redlegs.

What pick do the Reds have in the 2023 MLB Draft?

The Cincinnati Reds have the No. 7 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft. The Pittsburgh Pirates hold the No. 1 pick in this year's draft.

This was certainly a blow to the organization, but the last time Cincinnati made the seventh-overall selection was back in 2019 when they took a lanky left-handed prospect out of Texas Christian University by the name of Nick Lodolo. That's worked out well so far.

Speaking of working out, teams will have the chance to evaluate this year's crop of top prospects at the annual MLB Draft Combine.

When is the 2023 MLB Draft Combine?

The third annual MLB Draft Combine will take place June 20-25 at Chase Field in Arizona. This event offers draft prospects the opportunity to showcase their talents and meet with team executives.

The Cincinnati Reds had the good fortune of one of the 2022 MLB Draft's top prospects fall into their lap last season. Cam Collier, who many believed to be the best player in last year's draft, tumbled all the way down to No. 18.

The Reds will be looking for similar results this year with the No. 7 overall pick. In addition to the aforementioned Nick Lodolo, Larry Payne (1972), Dan Wilson (1990), Austin Kearns (2004), Homer Bailey (2004), and Yonder Alonso (2008) were all nabbed with the seventh pick in the MLB Draft.
