Cruz is going to operate as an opener for the Reds in hopes of getting the team off to a strong start. The offesne should provide ample run support against Davies, who has struggled all season long amidst injuries and ineffective play.

Davies is coming off the injured list, making his first start since July 18th. It's been a dismal season for the veteran, who has an ERA of 7.38 in 12 starts.
