Reds fans have questioned a lot of trades, free agent signings, and other transactions over the years. And while much of that criticism is fair and warranted, the one thing that cannot be questioned are the Cincinnati Reds promotional giveaways.
Let's be honest, the Reds' promos are next-level. Who'll ever forget the Scooter Gennett bobblehead with Scooter riding a scooter? Or how about the Yasiel Puig bobblehead with the Reds' outfielder saddling a "wild horse"?
Well, Reds fans, this year is no exception. The team just released their promotional bobblehead lineup for the upcoming 2024 season, and this year's theme is the City Connect uniform that the club debuted in 2023.
Reds Promotional Schedule: Cincy announces amazing City Connect bobbleheads
That's right! This year, the Cincinnati Reds are embracing the team's youth movement. After donning the City Connect jerseys during Friday's home games in 2023, the Reds will be offering seven different bobblehead giveaways throughout the 2024 season with some of your favorite Reds players decked out in their City Connect unis.
The promotion kicks off on April 6, 2024 with Jake Fraley draped in a black cape and wearing the viking helmet that he helped make popular during the 2023 season. In case you forgot, Fraley's former teammate Luis Cessa made reference to Fraley's viking-like appearance, and the Reds celebrated every home run by crowning each player with a viking helmet and adorning him with a cape.
Date of Giveaway
Elly De La Cruz
The second in the series of City Connect bobbleheads is Matt McLain. The Reds second baseman is decked out in his all-black uniform and swinging a bat. On May 5th, the Reds will giveaway an Alexis Diaz bobblehead when the Reds face off against reigning AL East Champion Baltimore Orioles.
Elly De La Cruz will be immortalized in bobblehead form on Wednesday, June 12th. The figurine depicts last year's rookie phenom running the base paths. The Cincinnati Reds will also feature three other bobblehead giveaways featuring Graham Ashcraft, Hunter Greene, and TJ Friedl.
The Reds PR and promotional team knocked this one out of the park. The Reds 2024 season has the makings of something special, and the promotional giveways will be no exception.
