The Cincinnati Reds got a fantastic come-from-behind win on Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park. Spencer Steer came up clutch and joined the 20/20 club with his seventh-inning blast that put Cincinnati on top 6-5. Alexis Diaz was called upon in the ninth inning to slam the door, and the Reds upended the Atlanta Braves, winning the season series over the defending AL East champions.

There was a bit of bad news, however, as Brandon Williamson left the game in the second inning with what's being called a left elbow sprain. The Reds starter will undoubtedly undergo further testing, but for all intents and purposes, his season is likely over. But another Reds starter will soon be on his way back to the mound.

Reds News: Hunter Greene nearing return

Hunter Greene has been sidelined for about a month after suffered an elbow injury. The Reds' ace has slowly been working his way back, and on Tuesday, accomplished a very important feat. Greene threw a simulated game before Cincinnati's matchup against Atlanta and was able to throw a little more than 50 pitches.

This is great news and paves the way for the way for the right-hander to return to the mound for the Reds' final homestand later this week against the Pittsburgh Pirates. If Greene recovers as expected from Tuesday's brief outing, expect to see him on the bump this Sunday against the Buccos.

Reds News: Tyler Callihan promoted to Triple-A Louisville

If there's one prospect that every Reds fan should rally behind, it's Tyler Callihan. The former third-round pick has dealt with a number of injuries, including undergoing Tommy John surgery, but has continued to battle his way up through the minor league ranks.

Callihan has finally reached the top-level of the minors after joining the Louisville Bats this week. Callihan had spent all season down at Double-A Chattanooga, and after coming off the IL in early-August, the infielder is hitting .358/.429/.482. Callihan is a long shot to be added to the Reds' 40-man roster this offseason, but could be in the mix for a spot on next year's Opening Day roster.

Reds News: Nick Lodolo out for the season

While Reds fans may be eager to see Greene return to the bump this Sunday, don't hold your breath waiting for Nick Lodolo to return this season. It's not happening. Out of an abundance of caution, and hoping to avoid surgery, the Reds have shut Lodolo down for the rest of the 2024 campaign.

It's been a disappointing season for the Reds' lefty. When he's healthy, Lodolo is arguably the Reds' best pitcher. Unfortunately, Lodolo has landed on the IL four times this season with a variety of ailments. Lodolo will finish his third major league season with a 4.76 ERA and 122 strikeouts, but only 21 starts covering just over 115 innings of work.
