Don't look to the minors to bring any relief for the Reds beleaguered bullpen

The Cincinnati Reds bullpen is the worst in all of Major League Baseball. Cincinnati's relief corps owns a 5.16 ERA and have issued the second-most walks (115) in the game.

But don't look to the minor leagues if you're in search of some new blood. The Louisville Bats' bullpen is pretty bad as well. Only the Charlotte Knights of the International League have a worse ERA than the Bats.

Free passes are a problem down on the farm as well. Triple-A Louisville has the third-most walks in the league and their 1.59 WHIP is at the bottom of the stat sheet.

The Reds won't find much relief down on the farm.

There is one reliever who's found some measure of success at Triple-A Louisville, and that's Ryan Hendrix. But the right-hander has yet to put it all together at the big league level. Hendrix was designated for assignment earlier this season, but cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville.

In five appearances out of the Cincinnati bullpen this season, Hendrix had as many walks as he did punch outs and posted an ERA of 8.10. Hedrix has 41 career games as a reliever in the big leagues, but his 6.17 career-ERA isn't very inspiring.

Another option would be Dauri Moreta, the right-hander who saw some time in the majors near the tail-end of the 2021 season and was on the Cincinnati Reds Opening Day roster. Moreta has a 3.48 ERA, but his eight walks in 10.1 innings of work does not look good. Neither does his 2.03 WHIP.

Sorry, folks. But if you're looking to the minor leagues to help solve the bullpen's woes, don't waste your time. Nope, what you see is what you get. Alexis Díaz has been a bright spot for the Reds this season, and despite blowing a save on Saturday, Joel Kuhnel has been one of Cincinnati's better relievers.

Hopefully, Daniel Duarte is able to return from the elbow injury that's had his sidelined since April. If Dauri Moreta can figure out how to stay in the strike zone, he has the potential to be a good relief option as well. But if you're looking for the next Josh Hader, you better check another farm system.
