Few fanbases get as excited for the MLB Draft as Reds Country. While those players who'll be taken over the next few days are unlikely to even sniff the major leagues for another two or three years (if at all), the Cincinnati Reds have done a great job building excitement for the young players in their farm system and those who'll soon be on the way.

This year's draft will be held in Fort Worth, Texas with the Home Run Derby and All-Star Game taking place in nearby Arlington. Thanks to the MLB Draft Lottery, the Reds are sitting in very good position in Round 1.

While not as longwinded as the NFL Draft, the first-round of MLB Draft is televised. There is five minutes between each selection and a total of 30 picks in Round 1. Both the Arizona Diamondbacks and Baltimore Orioles received prospect promotional picks as well after Corbin Carroll and Gunnar Henderson won the Rookie of the Year Awards in 2023.

How to watch the 2024 MLB Draft

Round1 of the 2024 MLB Draft will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET on July 14th and be carried on both MLB Network and ESPN. Fans can also stream the event live on MLB.com, MLB.TV, and the MLB app. There will be six potential draftees in attendance at the event, but the consensus top-2 players (Travis Bazzana and Charlie Condon) are not among them.

One player, however, who will be present at the Cowtown Coliseum is West Virginia infielder JJ Wetherholt. Some draft experts have opined that Wetherholt could be selected first-overall by the Guardians if Cleveland is looking to sign the No. 1-overall pick to an under-lot deal.

Reds 2024 MLB Draft Position and Bonus Pool

The Cleveland Guardians have the No. 1 overall pick, and the Reds, thanks to the MLB Draft Lottery, will select second on Sunday night. There are rumblings that Cleveland will not select one of Bazzana or Condon, meaning that Cincinnati could have their pick of one of the best two players in this year's draft.

Bazzana is a well-rounded player, though he is positionally limited on defense. The Oregon State standout is primarily a second baseman, but his hit tool might be the best in the entire draft. Condon has tremendous pop and led the NCAA in homers this past season. The University of Georgia product is likely ticketed for a corner outfield spot, though he does have experience at other positions as well.

2024 MLB Draft: Complete First Round Draft Order (Where do the Reds pick?)

There are 30 picks in Round 1 and a set amount of money that each team can spend on their alloted draft picks. Some teams strategize to spend less with their first-round pick in an effort to move that savings into the later rounds and pick up a talented prep player.

Each pick in the MLB Draft is assigned a value. For example, the No. 2 overall pick that the Reds hold is valued at $9,785,000. The Reds total draft bonus pool available to them this year is $15,842,100, which is the third-highest behind the Guardians and the Colorado Rockies.

Sit back and enjoy, Reds fans. By the middle of next week, Cincinnati will have a plethora of new young talent ready to take the field in the minor leagues later this summer.
