Mariners vs. Reds odds, run line and total

Mariners vs. Reds prediction and pick

The Mariners are not as good as their 32-17 record since the All-Star break would indicate. They have had arguably the easiest schedule in baseball and have been good, posting the fourth best ERA and seventh most runs. However, it’s been a lot easier playing the Oakland A’s and Kansas City Royals a combined 10 times and winning eight of those.

Now that Seattle is playing real competition again, they’re struggling again. However, Seattle will lean on Logan Gilbert to show up and stop the bleeding. Gilbert was excellent last time out, going 6.2 against the Mets and allowing just one run, but that was on seven hits.

Gilbert has allowed a .244 expected batting average which is 47th percentile and right now, Christian Encarnacion-Strand is hitting everything and carrying the Reds offense to consistently good performances.

Cincinnati has won four of five games against playoff competition and Encarnacion-Strand is hitting .423 with a 1.192 OPS over the past week. As a team they’re hitting .286 and will string together a lot of hits against Gilbert and pull out the sweep.
