It's been almost three years since Eugenio Suárez donned a Cincinnati Reds uniform, and yet, he's still one of the most popular players among the fanbase. Suárez's infectious personality was akin to that of former Reds' infielder Brandon Phillips, and the third baseman was incredibly well-liked during his time in the Queen City.

Suárez, along with outfielder Jesse Winker, was traded to the Seattle Mariners prior to the start of the 2022 season. The Reds had already parted company with Tucker Barnhart and Sonny Gray, so it wasn't shocking to see Cincinnati double-down on their fire sale during the offseason. Tyler Mahle and Luis Castillo would eventually be traded as well.

After two seasons in Seattle, Suárez was traded once again, this time to the defending National League champion Arizona Diamondbacks. Suárez had a productive first season in the Emerald City, but strikeouts haunted the former Reds' slugger during Year 2 in the Mariners organization.

There was a time earlier this season when Suárez's lack of production may have been enough for the D-backs to part ways with their offseason acquisition. But Geno has enjoyed a resurgent campaign ever since the All-Star break and is back in the good graces of manager Torey Lovullo.

Since the Midsummer Classic, Suárez is hitting .277/.311/.571 with eight home runs and 21 RBI. Only Geno's teammate Ketel Marte, San Diego Padres rookie Jackson Merrill, and Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber have more RBI since the break.

The Diamondbacks have surged ahead in the NL Wild Card race. After a terrible start to the 2024 season, Arizona has matched the San Diego Padres stride-for-stride during the second-half of the season and has nearly a 90% chance to make the playoffs according to FanGraphs.

The Reds' series loss to the Kansas City Royals has Cincinnati barely clinging to hope with just over a month left in the 2024 season. The Reds sure could use some Geno's patented good vibes over the final few weeks of the season, but the former Reds All-Star is using them to help thrust the D-backs back to the playoffs.
