The Cincinnati Reds will look to wash their hands of last night's loss to the New York Yankees. Perhaps Luke Weaver can get Cincinnati out of a sticky situation and even the series.

Weaver was very good during his last outing. The right-hander allowed just one run on seven hits while punching out six. Weaver had made it into the six inning during his last two starts.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone will counter with Jhony Brito. The 25-year-old is 3-3 on the year and owns an ERA of 5.20. Brito's not going to record a lot of strikeouts, but he still finds ways to get batters out.

Jonathan India will be back at the keystone on Saturday afternoon. Matt McLain will be his double-play partner at shortstop and bat second. David Bell has plugged Jake Fraley into the No. 3 spot in the batting order and he'll be followed by first baseman Spencer Steer.

Tyler Stephenson will get break from catching today, but he'll be batting fifth as the Reds designater hitter. Nick Senzel is back at the hot corner and will be followed by right fielder Wil Myers. Jose Barrero is back in center field and Luke Maile will be hanging the signs for Luke Weaver.

Maybe the umpires will have a bounce back performance on Saturday afternoon. The fact that Clarke Schmidt was allowed to remain in the game after a questionable "sticky stuff" check was flat-out embarrassing.

Worse, however, was the strike zone during last night's contest. Thankfully Brian O'Nora will not be behind the plate for Saturday's game. While O'Nora called an equally bad game for both sides, the hitters for both the Reds and Yankees were incredibly frustrated.

Spencer Steer has been swinging a hot bat of late. The rookie had a hiccup after being out of the Cincinnati lineup for a few days, but over the past seven games, Steer is hitting .308/.419/.462 with an equal number of strikeouts (5) and walks (5).

Steer has also been solid at first base. In fact, with Nick Senzel playing so well at third base, David Bell has basically abandoned the idea of Tyler Stephenson taking reps at first base. Steer is playing good baseball. Let's hope is continues today.
