Ex-Reds OF Tommy Pham has predictably hilarious response to banned Yankees fans
What would've happened if Tommy Pham was playing right field for LA?
The World Series itself has suddenly taken a back seat to the interaction between two overzealous New York Yankees fans and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts. In case you missed it, some interesting events unfolded during Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night.
Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres sent a fly ball down the right field line during the bottom of the first inning. Betts, sprinting to his left, chased the ball down and was able to make a leaping grab alongside the stands. But a Yankees' fan wanted that ball for himself.
A completely unseemly situation ensued after Betts made the catch. A Yankees fan reached out and grabbed ahold of Betts' glove and was ripping at the leather attempting to pry open his mitt. A neighboring fans grabbed ahold of Betts' wrist and the ball fell to turf. The umpires ruled fan interference and Torres was out.
Despite protests from the fans, security escorted those two out of Yankee Stadium and reports today indicate that those will be banned from Game 5. While some who watched the event unfold found it humorous, there's no place for that type of behavior.

If Tommy Pham was playing right field for the Dodgers on Tuesday night, things might have looked quite different. Thankfully, Betts handled himself well, and the situation was resolved rather quickly. But that doesn't mean that the former Cincinnati Reds outfielder kept his opinion to himself.
Pham was asked as part of The Athletic's live blog during Game 4 what he would have done during that spot. Pham's response was predictable. "Buddy touching me would be a problem," the former Reds outfielder said. "Keep your hands to yourself."
Pham spent half the 2022 season in Cincinnati, and the lasting memory that most Reds fans have of the veteran outfielder was when he slapped Joc Pederson across the face prior to a game against the San Francisco Giants. Pham was unhappy about the results of a fantasy football league, and that disagreement led to a physical altercation between Pham and Pederson.
If Pham got that upset because of a fantasy football rule violation, one can only imagine how far he might take things if an opposing fan grabs hold of him and tries to pry the ball loose. Yikes.
