New York Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman is recruiting fellow Americans to join the USA Team for the 2021 World Baseball Classic. Trevor Bauer is 10000000% in.

Marcus Stroman, a starting pitcher for the New York Mets, is trying his best to recruit some of his fellow players to commit to join Team USA for the 2021 World Baseball Classic. According to Cincinnati Reds starter Trevor Bauer, he’s 10000000% in.

Stroman put out an “all-call” via Twitter to his fellow American baseball players. The Mets right-hander is hopeful to put together a Dream Team for next year’s World Baseball Classic. Stroman first took to Instagram to recruit former NL MVP Christian Yelich and San Diego Padres slugger Eric Hosmer.

But Stroman didn’t stop there. The former Toronto Blue Jays hurler went after the big guns, putting out a call via Twitter to Mike Trout, Cody Bellinger, Mookie Betts, Walker Buehler, Aaron Judge, Bo Bichette and Trevor Bauer.

Stroman wasn’t the only member of the New York Mets to express an interest to play for Team USA. Rookie of the Year Pete Alonso responded to Stroman tweet, saying it’d be an honor to wear the red, white and blue. Alonso said that years back, he tried out for the USA Baseball U18 National Team but didn’t make the cut.

Trevor Bauer then responded to Alonso’s tweet, saying that he tried out for three years before being selected to the collegiate team. In true patriotic fashion, Bauer then stated that there’s nothing like wearing USA across your chest and that he’d drop just about anything to do it again.

A team comprised of Mike Trout, Cody Bellinger, Mookie Betts and Christian Yelich would be amazing to see. Add in a starting rotation featuring Trevor Bauer, Marcus Stroman and Walker Buehler, and it’s hard to see the games being anything other than a march by Team USA to the title.

Team USA won the World Baseball Classic back in 2017, shutting out Puerto Rico in the final game 8-0. The 2021 World Baseball Classic is slated to begin on March 9th next year with games in Taiwan, Japan and the United States.

In these trying and uncertain times, it’s nice to see camaraderie among some of the best players in the game. Having a united front with a common goal of playing in next year’s World Baseball Classic is a breath of fresh air. Hopefully this Dream Team will come to fruition and take home the championship in 2021.
