Is there a better choice to take over the reigns of the Cincinnati Reds than former Yankees manager Joe Girardi? The short answer is no!

The Cincinnati Reds have made their candidates for their manager vacancy known. John Ferrell, Jim Riggleman, Brad Ausmus, and David Bell are just a few of the names known to be considered for the position. But, is there any need to continue the search? Joe Girardi has already been interviewed. Isn’t he the slam dunk candidate?

Yes! In fact, it’s mildly troubling that the Reds are looking to interview even more candidates in the coming days, according to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Look, I’ll admit that it’s nice to see the Reds doing their due diligence in their search for a new manager, but they’ve already talked with the man who’s the best candidate for the job.

I think all of Reds Country can agree, at least from the fans perspective, that this organization needs an outside hire. So, while Jim Riggleman did a decent job for a couple months when he took over for Bryan Price, the team really struggled down the stretch.

John Farrell, who apparently is rumored to have the inside track for the job at the moment, would not be the worst hire that the Cincinnati Reds could make. He did have success in Boston and won a World Series with the Red Sox, but several people will credit Terry Francona for putting that team in position to win.

Joe Girardi is the guy. In 11 years as a manager, he finished below .500 one time and still received the National League Manager of the Year Award for that season in Miami. He’s got a career winning percentage of .554. If you eliminate the season he had with the Marlins, it’s .562. This is the guy!

Joe Girardi brings immediate credibility to an organization in desperate need of it. Girardi worked with veterans and youngsters during his managerial career. He could handle the young guys in the Cincinnati Reds clubhouse. Girardi was one win away from the World Series last year.

Bringing Girardi on board would give confidence and assurance to the fanbase that the Reds are serious about winning. It would also help lure potential free agents to the Queen City.

No matter how you slice it, Joe Girardi is the best candidate the Reds have interviewed thus far and he’s the best candidate they’re going to interview regardless of how long the process takes. Is there a better choice for the Cincinnati Reds next manager than Joe Girardi? No!
