The Cincinnati Reds are riding a 4-game winning streak. The Redlegs have three games left against the Chicago Cubs before heading to Atlanta for a three-game series with the NL East-leading Braves.

The Cincinnati Reds head into the weekend on a 4-game winning streak. After winning the finale on Sunday against the Pirates, Cincinnati swept the Detroit Tigers in a 2-game stint earlier this week and took Game 1 of a 4-game series against the Chicago Cubs.

Jesse Winker hits his first Grand Slam

Jesse Winker stepped to the plate in the bottom of the 6th inning with the bases loaded against Cubs’ reliever Randy Rosario. Winker sent the 1-0 delivery deep into center field for his first career grand slam. It was Winker’s 4th home run of the season.

Winker has been in a bit of a slump of late, going 7-for-32 over the course of his last 10 games. However, he does 2 home runs during that same 10-game stretch and 8 RBIs as well.

Wandy Peralta optioned to Triple-A Louisville

Wandy Peralta has been abysmal of late. The 26-year old left-hander is carrying a 6.14 ERA through 37 games this season. He’s walked more batters (25) this season than he did all of last year (24).

Kyle Crockett, formerly of the Cleveland Indians, has been called up from Triple-A Louisville to take Peralta’s spot. For his career, Crockett has a 3.44 ERA in 65.1 innings pitched.

Due to Crockett not being part of the 40-man roster, the Reds released catcher Tony Cruz.

Nick Senzel still crushing it for the Louisville Bats

Are you tired about hearing the name Nick Senzel? I didn’t think so. Let’s check in and see how the Reds’ top prospect is doing in Louisville.

Over his last 10 games, Senzel is hitting .409 with 3 home runs and 11 RBIs. The young man is on fire! It’ll be interesting over the next month or so, so see if the Reds make a move that would allow Senzel to join the big league club.

Scott Schebler on bereavement leave

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Scott Schebler has been placed on the bereavement list. Phillip Ervin, the Reds’ 2013 1st-round pick, was called up to take Schebler’s spot on the roster.

Ervin came into Thursday’s game as a defensive replacement for Winker. That was Ervin’s first action with the big league club since late April against Atlanta.

Previewing the Reds’ upcoming schedule

The Reds took the first of four games against the Cubs on Thursday night. Luis Castillo will take the mound Friday versus the Cubbies. Anthony DeSclafani should be on the bump Saturday, and Sal Romano will get the opportunity to keep rolling when he gets the start for Sunday’s series finale.

Next: The Reds won't miss Wandy Peralta

Monday begin a three-game series with Atlanta, then the Reds will close out the month of June with the NL Central-leading Brewers coming to Great American Ball Park.
