The Cincinnati Reds have seen a lot of roster turnover the past few years, and several of the club's highly-touted prospects have joined different organizations during that time.
Whether they were dealt away as part of a trade package or failed to meet the moment and were later released, a number of forgotten Reds prospects — most of whom were expected to have some sort of positive impact — are still part of some Major League organization.
Let's check on two who've been lights out with their new club, and two others who had much better success when they part of the Reds' farm system.
Former Reds prospect Mike Sirota is one of Dodgers' best
This one is going to sting, Reds fans. Sirota was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for Gavin Lux prior to the 2025 season. Obviously, Lux fell well short of expectations and has since been traded to the Tampa Bay Rays.
Mike Sirota, on the other hand, is thriving in the Dodgers farm system. A former third-round draft pick of Cincinnati, the outfielder is hitting a combined .326/.478/.559 with double-digit home runs and a 172 wRC+ this season. This one has the potential to haunt the Reds for quite some time.
Failed Reds' pitcher Levi Stoudt is riding high with the Phillies
Levi Stoudt was part of the return for Luis Castillo trade in 2022. Noelvi Marte and Edwin Arroyo were also part of the trade package that the Seattle Mariners sent to Cincinnati in exchange for their former ace.
Stoudt never worked out during his time with the Reds. While he still hasn't made it back to the big leagues, the right-hander is having an outstanding season for the Philadelphia Phillies' Triple-A affiliate and could be on the cusp of a return. Stoudt hasn't allowed an earned run all season and has a 27.1% strikeout rate for the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.
Reds dealt Sammy Stafura to the Pirates & he's struggling
Sammy Stafura was the Reds' second-round draft choice in 2023. The toolsy shortstop prospect was slowly making his way up through the farm system last year, but was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates (along with Taylor Rogers) in exchange for Gold Glove third baseman.
While Hayes has certainly struggled during his time with the Reds, Stafura's tenure with the Pirates hasn't been much better. The young shortstop has played in 35 minor league games this season and is hitting just .212/.350/.345 with an 88 wRC+ and a 34.3% strikeout rate.
Dodgers may regret trading for ex-Reds pitcher Adam Serwinowski
While the Dodgers undoubtedly won their trade with the Reds that brought them Sirota, the trade that sent Adam Serwinoski to LA has yet to yield many positive results. Most Reds fans probably don't remember this trade very well, because it involved a third team, the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Dodgers shipped catcher Hunter Feduccia to the Rays, and Tampa Bay sent Zack Littell to Cincinnati. In order to finalize the deal, Serwinowski and two others ended up with Los Angeles. This season, the left-hander is 5-2 in 14 starts, but has an unimpressive 5.31 ERA. Serwinowski has strikeout stuff, but those walks (13.5% BB rate) are piling up this season.
