It was only a matter of time before the Reds rumor mill became white-hot. It appears as though the latest news surrounding Luis Castillo has turned up the heat on the hot stove.

MLB Network contributor Jon Morosi has said that Castillo is drawing trade interest from teams across the league and that the Cincinnati Reds are willing to engage in talks about a potential deal.

The latest Reds rumors suggest Luis Castillo may be traded.

This could be good or bad news for Reds fans, and it's all a matter of perspective. Cincinnati has already moved on from Tucker Barnhart and Wade Miley, and now it appears as though Luis Castillo may not be in the Queen City much longer.

However, if the Reds do plan to blow it up, they might as well go all the way. We've talked for weeks about which starting pitcher is most likely to be playing elsewhere in 2022, and this latest news may have given us our answer.

With both Nick Lodolo and Hunter Greene ready to make their major league debuts in 2022, it makes sense that Cincinnati is looking to create a spot or two in the starting rotation.

With Miley's departure, Castillo, Sonny Gray, Tyler Mahle, and Vladimir Gutierrez seem to have four of the five spots locked up heading into the offseason.

However, if Luis Castillo is dealt, that opens up two spots in the Cincinnati Reds rotation, which would help to usher in the club's top two pitching prospects.

Take these latest Reds rumors with a grain of salt. Don't forget, we've heard Luis Castillo's name mentioned as a possible trade target for the last few winters.

However, after seeing Cincinnati already dismiss Barnhart and Miley, chances are good that these latest batch of Reds rumors are to be believed.
