Cincinnati would head back to the World Series in 1939, but lost in a four-game sweep to the New York Yankees. The following year, the Reds won it all outlasting the Detroit Tigers in seven games.
Cincinnati fell to the Bronx Bombers once again in 1961 and then lost to the Baltimore Orioles in 1970. Unfortunately, the Oakland Athletics took the 1972 World Series from the Cincinnati Reds in seven games.
But the Big Red Machine established itself in the 1975 World Series with a 4-3 series victory over the Boston Red Sox. Cincinnati got revenge over the New York Yankees the following year with a four-game sweep and won back-to-back World Series titles.
