Wade Miley became the 17th pitcher in Cincinnati Reds history to toss a no-hitter and the first since Homer Bailey on July 2, 2013. While Miley himself deserves a ton of credit for his near-perfect performance, let’s give a little credit to his son may have gifted his dad a good luck charm prior to the game.

Miley said in a postgame interview that his son, Jeb, made him wear a temporary tattoo before the southpaw toed the rubber in last night’s game versus the Cleveland Indians. While I’m not a believer in jinxes or superstitions, let’s hope Miley’s son has a whole sleeve of sticker tattoos ready for his dad’s next start.

Reds starter Wade Miley won’t get a permanent tattoo.

In an interview with Jim Day, courtesy of Bally Sports Cincinnati, Miley spoke about his good luck charm. “I got to give a little shoutout. My son made me wear this Hulk tattoo on my forearm, and I might have to get the real Hulk tattoo now. I don’t know.”

Day asked Miley if he was going to get a permanent tattoo, to which the Reds starter replied, “I’m scared to death of needles. I’m probably not going to get a permanent one. I’ll just keep getting the sticky one and put it on there every time.”

Hey, if ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? I’d say there’s good chance we’ll see Wade Miley sporting a sticky tattoo during his next start. We’ll see the southpaw on the bump next Wednesday in Pittsburgh when the Reds and Pirates do battle in the final game a three-game series set to begin on Monday.

Next. Barnhart is the Reds most underrated player

The Reds still have two more games in Cleveland against the Indians before they head up the road to the Steel City. Last night’s game versus the Indians was the first of a 10-game road trip. Let’s hope that Luis Castillo can keep the good vibes rolling when he takes the mound this evening at Progressive Field.
