2. Jim Kelch, Former Reds radio broadcaster

Many fans will remember Jim Kelch from his days in the Cincinnati Reds radio booth from 2008-2017. Kelch is a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois and has a plethora of experience behind the microphone. If the Reds wanted a reliable, professional voice to replace Brennaman, you won’t find many better than Jim Kelch.

Kelch did not begin his career with the Cincinnati Reds. In fact, Kelch worked his way up through the minors just like several players have done. Kelch was part of the broadcast team for Peoria Chiefs, Chattanooga Lookouts and the long-time radio voice of the Triple-A Louisville Bats. Kelch also called games for the University of Louisville football team and men’s basketball.

Kelch is a skilled orator who currently is broadcasting for the Northern Kentucky University Norse men’s basketball team. Becoming a full member of the Division-I college basketball circuit during the 2016-17 season, Kelch was on mic when the Norse made the NCAA Tournament during their first year of eligibility.

I think the majority of Reds Country would be ecstatic to have Jim Kelch back in the Queen City. Kelch replaced longtime Fox Sports personality George Grande several years ago, perhaps he’ll get a second chance to prove that he belongs in the big leagues. Kelch would be another fine choice to replace Thom Brennaman.
