Cincinnati Reds avoid arbitration with Todd Frazier

The Cincinnati Reds and Todd Frazier have avoided going to the arbitration table, instead deciding on a 2-year/$12 million deal.

By re-upping Frazier, that allows the Reds to focus on Aroldis Chapman, who is their lone remaining arbitration-eligible member.

Mark Sheldon of was first to report the breakdown of the salary figures. For 2015, Frazier will pull in $4.5 million, before making $7.5 in 2016.

Considering the year Frazier is coming off in 2014, plus his potential room for improvement, the deal may prove to be a bargain in the short-term.

It wasn’t quite the long-term deal that our own Ashley Davis projected when she broached the issue last week, but it solves the same idea: pay Frazier while you can guarantee his services.
