Reds Week on the Web: 11/12/11

By Steve Engbloom

With it being the offseason, you would think it isn’t possible to find one post for every day of the week. Not quite true and here’s a handful of stories to prove it…

There was some hardware handed out on Monday. All 30 of the MLB had awards for Top Performer, Pitcher and Breakout for each team. You can probably guess how that went… Or can you? Top Performer was awarded to Joey Votto. Top Pitcher was Johnny Cueto. Breakout went to Chris Heisey. Adam McCavry, who usually does Brewers stuff fills in for Mark Sheldon for a day (that or Shledon clicked on something wrong)and he has more details.

James Shields must be on the minds of a lot people. Justin Lindon over at Redleg Nation adds his name to the list. He thinks the Reds should go after him and Justin also provides a look into the near future if Walt can pull such a move.

Despite what the title of this article by Yahoo! Sports Tim Brown states, the Reds have some mention here. First, Brown scratches the surface about Cincy and outfielders. Second, he’s picked up on Shields to Cincy, too!

I don’t think I can or need to add anything to this. The title does all the explaining…

A bidding war has ensued for Dontrelle Willis. Well, Red Reporter says so, and I, for one, am not too shocked.

The Reds Double-A affiliate is making a move from Carolina to Pensacola, Florida, home of the Blue Wahoos. A new facility and a new fanbase await them. 2,100 season tickets have already been sold. This article by Bejamin Hill of also touches on what measures the “new” team is taking.
