Bad Mixture Sends Reds Over D-backs

AUTHOR: Steve Engbloom | IN: Reds | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Question. What happens when you take the most potent offense in the National League and put it against one of the worst bullpens in MLB history? The mixture is volatile and it also is the recipe for another come-from-behind victory for the Cincinnati Reds.
Reds fans know how the offense has been performing in 2010. It seems like every time the Reds are behind, the offense finds a way to come up with big innings to snatch a win. Such was the case last night as the Reds plated four runs in both the 8th and 9th innings for the 11-7 comeback [...]

Reds Rally Late for 6-2 Win

AUTHOR: Steve Engbloom | IN: Reds | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

The Arizona Diamondbacks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a Kelly Johnson two-run homer. That was all the D-backs would get. Reds starter Bronson Arroyo shut down Arizona over the next 7.1 innings and the offense finally awoke in the form of a 7th-inning solo shot by Paul Janish and a 9th-inning three spot. Janish’s blast gave the Reds a 3-2 lead and the Reds would expend the lead to 4 en route to a 6-2 victory.
For the moment, we’ll forget how the Reds squandered an opportunity to add to their lead in the [...]

Oh Francisco…Walks Will Haunt

AUTHOR: Tim Grimes | IN: Reds | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

For us old school Reds fans, you may remember an feature they had on the Jumbotron at Riverfront Stadium. When an opposing pitcher walked a Red, a video would come up on the screen with a ghost and the caption walks will haunt appeared as well. Over time, it became a fan favorite and it rings true in almost every game. They were right, walks will haunt. And, in Francisco Cordero’s case, this whole season has been filled with bases on balls. Even though he didn’t blow a save last night, he did take the [...]

Major League Debut

AUTHOR: Tim Grimes | IN: Reds | COMMENTS: None Yet

Bryan Augenstein will start tonight against the Reds. He is making his Major League debut. I tried to find some stats about pitchers making their debut against Cincinnati but to no avail. But, I do know, that they are very successful against us. It seems like everytime this happens we score 2 runs and have 10 k’s. Let’s see if this team is any different.
Go Reds,
Tim

Injury Update

AUTHOR: Tim Grimes | IN: Reds | COMMENTS: None Yet

Alex Gonzalez played some long toss and hit some in the batting cage. Leading me to believe, that he is probably safe from the disabled list. He has been out for a week now.
I think that one of the big reasons they didn’t put him on the d.l. is that no one in Louisville is big league ready. None of the infielders are hitting and definitely can’t field in the Majors.
Expect to see him in San Diego.
Go Reds,
Tim

AUTHOR: Tim Grimes | IN: Reds | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Reds played a little small ball in Arizona to win 13-5. Willy Taveras went 5-5, stole a base, and scored 4 times.
Bronson Arroyo (5-2) pitched 7 innings to get the win. He gave up 5 earned runs and struck out five. He got the job even though it wasn’t pretty at times. Arroyo gave up 3 more homers.
The Reds’ road record is now a sterling 11-5. They have a better road record than home record (6-9).
Willy Taveras extended his hitting streak to 12 games while Jay Bruce’s ended at 11 [...]
