Tremendous or Tragic? Trading Big Donkey
April 23, 2008. Know what’s significant of that date? It’s the day Walt Jocketty became General Manger of the Cincinnati Reds. He was initially brought into the organization as a Special Advisor on January 11 of that same year. The Special Advisor role was just as it sounds: to advise the Reds within its baseball operations part of the organization. For those that remember when Jocketty was brought on board, you had to know that time for Wayne Krivsky would be short…and it was. With the recent inactivity of the Reds in making trades and/or signing free agents over the time [...]
Cincinnati Reds Immemorial: Youth Movement Edition
“…and if you put me in center field, I will promise 20% fewer strikeouts than my distinguished competitor, 10 to 20 points higher batting average and I will even promise to successfully lay down a few bunts for hits. Now I know what the campaign ads say: he won’t steal as many bases, he won’t shag as many fly balls, he can’t possibly hold up with more playing time. But I can and I will. Vote me into Center Field and let’s move the Reds forward!” Election season is upon us and it’s always a temptation to look toward the [...]

Checking in on Adam Dunn
Given the time in which the Reds became near and dear to my heart, Adam Dunn ranks inordinately high on my favorite-players-of-all-time list. It’d be a good bet that many of you are the same. And if you have been checking in on the Reds’ slugger of yesteryear this season (or if he is on your fantasy team), you’ll know that Dunn has had a fair share of struggles this season. From an early season appendectomy to what has become a half-season long and seemingly permanent slump that is bordering on painful, the wheels seem to have just fell off.
Dayton Dragons Breaking Records
This story is from Senior MLB Writer Tom Krasovic: If you havent been to a game there they are doing it correctly. It is great stadium to watch a minor league game. And believe me, Dayton is no vacation destination. But, its nice to see them getting a little attention in the national media. DAYTON, Ohio — If you build it here, they will not come. That’s what ballpark planner Robert Murphy was told 11 years ago. Skeptics here in Dayton saw no future for the minor-league baseball team and ballpark that Murphy was proposing for their troubled city, population [...]
Ramon Hernandez is the Most Outstanding Player
Ramon Hernandez won the coveted and I mean coveted Most Outstanding Player in the Ohio Cup. The Ohio Cup is the 6 game series played between the Reds and the Cleveland Indians. In five games, he hit .474 with a 2b, 3b, and a homerun while driving in 5 runs. He also played First and Catcher, during the series. Jonny Gomes and Arthur Rhodes also received votes for their play. The award is given out by the Ohio Lottery. Adam Dunn, currently of the Washington Nationals, won the award last season.
Former Red Report: Adam Dunn
Adam Dunn has the strangest stat line of the season, so far. Adam Dunn has 17 homeruns this year. The Nationals have 15 wins this year. No Major League player has ever finished the season with more homeruns than the team has wins. This could be the year! Go Reds, Tim
Jay Bruce Extends Hitting Streak
Jay Bruce hit his 8th homerun to extend his hitting streak to eight games. His eight homeruns are tied for 4th in the National League. This isn’t a shot, but, that is one ahead of Adam Dunn. Dunn has seven for the Washington Nationals. Go Reds, Tim
