Reds Tickets 50% Below Season Average For Series Vs Cubs

Following a major trade with the Oakland Athletics over the weekend that saw their ace Jeff Samardzija make his way to the west coast for a hunter green and California gold uniform, the Cubs will travel to Great American Ballpark for five games with the Reds this week. The Reds schedule has the two teams meeting for the fourth time this season. The season average for Cincinnati Reds tickets on the secondary market is $53.97, but each of the series’ five games will have a below-season average price. The series as a whole will be 50% below the season average.

7/7 – Edwin Jackson vs Mike Leake | Avg. Price: $28 | Get-in Price: $3

The series begins Monday night when Mike Leake takes the mound for the Reds against Cubs pitcher Edwin Jackson. The average price for July 7 Reds vs Cubs tickets is $28, 48.1% below season average, with a  get-in price of $3. Leake enters tonight’s game with a 6-7 record and 3.47 ERA. Jackson has struggled, going just 5-8 with a 4.99 ERA.

7/8  Game 1 – Travis Wood vs TBA | Avg. Price: $25 | Get-in Price: $3

The second game of the series will be played on Tuesday afternoon, the first game of a doubleheader, and will have Cubs southpaw Travis Wood against a Reds pitcher to be named later. The average price for Tuesday afternoon Reds vs Cubs tickets is $25, the cheapest of the series at 53.67% below season average, with a get-in price of $3. Wood is 7-6 with a 4.62 ERA on the season and made it through just 3.2 innings in his last start against the Red Sox last Wednesday. He’ll look to regain his command after allowing three earned runs, seven hits and four walks in his last outing.

7/8 Game 2 – TBA vs TBA | Avg. Price: $26 | Get-in Price: $3

The second game of the doubleheader is scheduled for Tuesday night. Neither team has announced a starting pitcher for the night game. The average price for Tuesday night Reds vs Cubs tickets is $26, 51.8% below season average, with a get-in price of $3.

7/9 – TBA vs Alfredo Simon | Avg. Price: $27 | Get-in Price: $2

The fourth game of the series will see Alfredo Simon for the Reds against a Cubs pitcher to be determined later. The average price for Wednesday’s Reds vs Cubs tickets is $27, 49.97% below season average, with a get-in price of just $2, the lowest of the series. Simon takes the mound with impressive numbers thus far, going 11-3 with a 2.78 ERA. Despite his stellar stats, Simon was snubbed for next week’s All-Star Game, although he could replace teammate Johnny Cueto, who is scheduled to pitch the Sunday before the game.

7/10 – TBA vs Homer Bailey | Avg. Price: $29 | Get-in Price: $3

The final game of the series will be played Thursday and will feature Homer Bailey for the Reds. The average price for Thursday Reds vs Cubs tickets is $29, the highest of the series but still 46.26% below season average, with a get-in price of $3. Bailey is 8-5 on the season with a 4.15 ERA and has allowed just one run over his last 17 innings.

As the Cubs continue to rebuild after obtaining top prospect Addison Russell from the A’s, future hopes of a team comprised of several young stars have given fans a reason to cheer again despite another lost season this year. The Cubs schedule takes the team into Cincinnati this week as the penultimate series before the All-Star break begins next week. Despite being three games above .500, the Reds enter tonight’s game in fourth place in the NL Central, six games behind the first place Brewers.
