Mat Latos  picked up a MPH on his fastball between starts one and two. He used his fastball a bit more in the second start and really picked up the usage of his curveball, while dropping the use of the change up. His velocity is still much lower than in the past, down more than 2 MPH from his average last year.

Cubs Starter: RHP Edwin Jackson

Change Up 87 MPH 3%
Slider 87 MPH 29%
Curveball 80 MPH 7%

Edwin Jackson has pitched better than his 5.12 ERA suggests, but he hasn’t been a very good starter either. He struggles to throw strikes at times, with a walk rate that is a bit high. He works heavily with his fastball/slider combination, throwing them 90% of the time. He will mix in some curveballs and change ups every now and again, but neither pitch is something he goes to often. His slider has been the only above-average pitch he has shown this year, so the Reds should be able attack most of his pitches. With his control issues, the team should be patient and wait for a mistake pitch.
