Scouting Report

Pitch Velocity Usage
Fastball 92 MPH 73%
Change Up 87 MPH 14%
Slider 80 MPH 13%

Tony Cingrani continues to throw a ton of fastballs while mixing in the same amount of sliders and change ups. He has thrown a fastball 70% or more in six of his eight starts. His control has been spotty this year as his walk rate is up significantly and his strikeout rate is also down significantly.

Diamondback Starter: RHP Josh Collmenter

2014 Season Stats

Scouting Report

Pitch Velocity Usage
Cutter 88 MPH 75%
Change Up 80 MPH 18%
Curveball 74 MPH 6%

Collmenter leans heavily on his cutter, throwing it even more than Cingrani throws his fastball. The Reds can more often than not sit back and wait for the pitch. He will go to his change up as his secondary pitch most of the time and thrown about one curveball per inning. He throws strikes, but he doesn’t miss many bats, so there should be plenty of pressure on the defense as the Reds should be able to put the ball in play often against the right hander.
