In the second game of a day-night doubleheader the San Diego Padres will send out right hander Tyson Ross to square off against just called up left hander Jeff Francis for the Cincinnati Reds. Francis will be making his 2014 debut after spending his season in Triple-A with Louisville.

Scouting Report (from 2013 with Colorado)
|Change Up||79 MPH||19%|
Jeff Francis is the epitome of a soft tossing left hander who will work in the 85-89 MPH range. His curveball has been his best pitch in recent years. Expect plenty of contact against Francis, though hopefully he can keep the ball on the ground.
Padres Starter: RHP Tyson Ross

Ross is a hard thrower who leads heavily on his fastball/slider combination, though he will mix in a change up an inning to keep hitters honest. His fastball has been his best pitch so far this season, with his slider being an average offering. His change up, despite limited use, has been a well below-average pitch and if the Reds are going to be able to take advantage of a pitch, that would be the best one to take a big cut at.
