Scouting Report

Pitch Velocity Usage
Fastball 94 MPH 59%
Cutter 88 MPH 21%
Splitter 85 MPH 8%
Curveball 77 MPH 11%

After lowering the amount he had been using his splitter since the start of the season, Alfredo Simon has picked it back up over the last two starts. He leaned on the cutter a bit more on the 29th of April than he had for a few starts and cut back on using the curveball. After struggling with his control on the 23rd he rebounded well the last time out against the Cubs, walking just two hitters. He continues to keep hitters off balance by mixing in all four pitches.

Brewers Starter: RHP Kyle Lohse

2014 Season Stats
W L ERA IP HR BB K
4 1 2.70 40.0 3 11 40

Scouting Report

Pitch Velocity Usage
Fastball 90 MPH 44%
Change Up 80 MPH 15%
Slider 84 MPH 30%
Curveball 75 MPH 11%

Kyle Lohse leans heavily on his slider, throwing it nearly every third pitch. He is using the pitch more this year than ever before and throwing his fastball less than ever before. He has also used his curveball more than ever, though it is only slightly up from its usage last season. He mixes his four pitches well. His fastball is a below-average pitch, but all three of his offspeed pitches are above-average. Falling behind Lohse will put hitters in tough spots as he can lean on those pitches. Taking a fastball early in the count may not be a good bet against a pitcher like Lohse who uses the offspeed stuff more often than his fastball.
